Promoting Your New Website
Now your website is built and you want to get visitors via the search engines. There are two main online marketing options for your launch, the free organic search listings and pay per click (PPC) advertising, both of which will generate quality traffic targeted at your core business keywords.

Free organic search engine listings

Organic listings are generally regarded as the most valuable type of search listing. However it takes time for the search engines to visit, index and list any new site.  Google, Yahoo, MSN and the rest tend to view new sites suspiciously; consequently you may not see any free listings for up to 3 months.

To help your website initially in the search engine listings and for each page of the site to get indexed it has:

•    Search friendly site structure
•    Key phrase optimized copy
•    Key phrase optimized metatags
•    Been submitted to the major search engines.

Getting good rankings in the free listings can also depend on how many competitors you have and how well they have built and optimized their own sites. If you are in a competitive market they can take some time and effort to procure.

The age of your site and competiveness of your market cannot be manipulated but there are other factors, which we can work on to influence how your site is ranked and these form the basis for your ongoing online marketing plan.

1. The number of sites that link to yours; the more sites that link to you the better. Also if the sites linking to you have lots of sites linking to them then Google will see the link as coming from an important site and give the link to you more credence. We need to work on getting links from other quality websites.

2. Keep the content coming. The more pages you have that are targeted to specific keywords the better. A more targeted page will get higher rankings. e.g. a whole page explaining your service for “shopping centre security”. We can then tweak the copy so it matches searchers queries to bring targeted visitors who are interested in for example “shopping center security”.

Paid for listings

PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising does exactly what is says on the label.

•    Your adverts only appear when certain keywords or phrases are entered by searchers
•    You only pay for a click when an advert is clicked bringing a visitor to your site
•    The cost of the click depends on the keyword or phrase you are advertising on
•    Cost per Click: a rare keyword like "shopping centre security" may only cost 15p per click but a general keyword that will get lots of traffic, such as "UK security companies" may cost up to £1 per click.

Advantages of PPC:

•    Gets you immediate traffic - you don't have to wait around until your site is indexed
•    PPC statistics show how much business the campaign is bringing you to the exact penny
•    PPC statistics show which keywords and phrases are the most profitable for you

The keyword knowledge gained from the PPC campaign should also be fed back into new and existing content to improve your rankings and give visitors from the free listings and ppc listings exactly what they are searching for.

•    Decide which service you want to advertise
•    Set a budget
•    Designs ads for service’s keywords
•    Monitor and feedback
